The mission of MakeHERspace is to turn xHain into a comfortable, safe space for women, and other members of the FLINTA community, free from masculine energy and attitudes.

FLINTA means Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-Binary, Transgender, and Agender. Sometimes this is referred to as ABCD; “All But Cis Dudes”.

Our management includes cis and trans women, and our membership includes and enthusiastically welcomes most flavors of FLINTA, including a large number of trans women. People who object to that are not welcome (No TERFs).

If necessary men can grab/drop off urgent works and quickly leave the space with a low profile.

Remote controlled ball pit for 40C3 (Brainstorming & orga)
–

Leipzig congress had a ball pit on wheels - which was a lot of fun to ride around in! With 40c3 going back to a space with lots of flat same level area (at Hamburger Messe), it’s a great chance to revive the ball pit idea and upgrade it.

The core idea:

  • building a ball pit, for 2-3 people (smaller than the Leizpiger version, but should be more practical to build and transport)
  • motorized (using hoverboard motors?)
  • remote controllable via a web app (including fun multi player modes. Because who said a ride should be straight forward? The trip is the goal :D) - with optional game controller input
  • distance sensors and auto break functionality to prevent crashing into people, walls and objects

And ideally:

  • autonomous driving
  • incl. ride haling

If the project sounds fun & interesting to you - let’s come together and brainstorm the technical details and realization (software, electronics, structural materials etc.) as well as how to organize the transport to 40c3.

3D Printing Introduction

ntroduction to 3D printer lab and processes. Includes information about the software used to prepare your model (~30 min), as well as information about printers and processes (~30 min).

This introduction is mostly oriented towards members (or soon-to-be members) with all levels of experience who want to be authorized to use the printers in the space. You must do this introduction before you are authorized to use the printers. It is not a great opportunity for intensive 1:1 help with projects (because there are too many participants).

NOTE: You cannot print at Xhain unless you are a member (https://x-hain.de/en/participate/#content)

No need to sign up - you can just show up in the lobby right as you enter the space at the start of the session!

Calling all neurodivergent individuals! Are you tired of starting hobbies that you never seem to finish? Join us for an evening of guilt-free creativity where there is absolutely no pressure to complete anything. This event is designed to be a safe space where you can freely express your creativity without fear of judgment or criticism.

We will have a variety of crafting supplies available including paint, yarn, crochet needles, beads, coloring books, and air clay. However, feel free to bring your own supplies or current projects if you’d like to work on something specific.

makeHERspace (All Day & Night, 'til 7am Fri.)

Every other Thursday, MakeHERspace takes over and xHain becomes a FLINTA-only space for the entire day, from noon to 7am the next day.

The mission of MakeHERspace is to turn xHain into a comfortable, safe space for women, and other members of the FLINTA community, free from masculine energy and attitudes.

FLINTA means Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-Binary, Transgender, and Agender. Sometimes this is referred to as ABCD; “All But Cis Dudes”.

Our management includes cis and trans women, and our membership includes and enthusiastically welcomes most flavors of FLINTA, including a large number of trans women. People who object to that are not welcome (No TERFs).

If necessary men can grab/drop off urgent works and quickly leave the space with a low profile.
